Why can't I use port blocking to block Web Messengers?

MSN Web Messenger, eBuddy, eMessenger, Yahoo Web Messenger and AIM Express are all just web pages viewed in a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. They communicate through the normal web port - port 80. If you block access to port 80 then your browser can not view any web sites.

Note - blocking Web Messenger's port (80) will stop Internet Explorer showing any web sites.

Blocking the site itself will still allow your students to use proxy sites to access Web Messenger

Relax... let TerminatorX solve your problems for you.
